GoRogue365Bot

Short version: GoRogue365Bot is the small, polite program Go Rogue365 uses to find out what is happening around Boise and the Treasure Valley, so locals can find your events. It reads public pages only, it follows your robots.txt, and if you would rather we did not, tell us and we will stop.

Who we are

Go Rogue365 (gorogue365.com) is a free local guide to happy hours, live music, restaurants, bars and events in Boise and the Treasure Valley. We are a small local team. We are not an ad network and we do not sell your information.

What the bot does

  • Once a night, it reads a short list of public events pages and public calendar feeds (iCal or RSS), such as a venue's “Events” page.
  • It looks for event names, dates, times, places and the link back to your page. For some pages, software that includes an AI model reads the page text to pick those details out.
  • A person on our team reviews every event before it appears on Go Rogue365. Nothing it finds is published automatically.
  • Every listing links back to the event's own page, so people come to you.

How politely it behaves

  • It identifies itself on every request as GoRogue365Bot/0.1 (+https://gorogue365.com/bot).
  • It reads your robots.txt first and obeys it.
  • It waits at least two seconds between requests to the same site, and only reads a page again when it has been a day or more.
  • It never logs in, never fills in or submits forms, never buys or reserves anything, and does not try to get around a block. If your site refuses it, it stops.
  • It does not copy your photos or your ticket sales.

How to opt out

Any one of these is enough, and you do not need to give a reason:

  • Add this to your site's robots.txt and the bot will stop reading your site:
    User-agent: GoRogue365Bot
    Disallow: /
  • Or email hello@gorogue365.com with your website address and ask us to stop. We will stop reading your site and take down anything we listed that came from it.

Prefer to send us your events?

If you already have a calendar feed, send us the web address and we will read that instead. You can also send events straight to us, and we are happy to list them. Write to hello@gorogue365.com.

Questions or problems

If the bot ever does something it should not, or an event we list is wrong, please write to hello@gorogue365.com. We read every message.
